David Sobotka is president of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, proud Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets. Prior to entering the world of minor league baseball, David enjoyed a 40+ year career in finance, with his most recent role being a partner in the $18 billion hedge fund Capula Investments. Previously, he was head of Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, responsible for a global trading operation across the credit, emerging markets, interest rate, municipal bond, foreign currency, distressed debt and energy and metal commodities asset classes serving institutional, hedge fund and official sector clients. Previously, David ran commodity trading operations at a number of financial and private firms, including Entergy-Koch, Lehman Brothers, Citibank and UBS.  He began his career as an analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York after graduating from Yale with a degree in economics.

David is a director on the board of BWC Terminals, a portfolio company of the JP Morgan Infrastructure Fund. He serves as treasurer of the board of DREAM, an organization assisting in the development of 2500 youth in the communities of East Harlem and the South Bronx through charter schools and out-of-school programming. At Yale, he is a member of the Dean of the School of Environment’s Steering Committee and the Advisory Boards of the Jackson Institute of Global Affairs and the Center For Business and Environment at Yale. David is also a member of the Broome County NY Chamber of Commerce.
