Description

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of both compression/dehydration and storage area surface facilities associated with a depleted reservoir underground natural gas storage facility.  The focus of the job includes technical performance, safety and environment, reliability, availability, efficiency, and operating flexibility.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that storage facility’s day-to-day operations run safely, reliably and efficiently
  • Work with facility supervision and coworkers to perform operations, maintenance and repairs on all mechanical equipment and systems
  • Analyzing and troubleshoot technical and mechanical issues with equipment such as gas engine driven reciprocating compressors, glycol dehydration systems and plant auxiliary equipment, e.g. gas/liquid separators and filters, pumps, generators, coolers, air compressors, etc
  • Carry out routine maintenance of facility and equipment on a ‘hands on’ basis while maintaining control of all records as per Quality Assurance Procedure
  • Learn and follow proper maintenance procedures and vendor standards
  • Comply with all facility safety, environmental, and health requirements
  • Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary by site supervision

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent.  Preferred 2 year degree in Mechanical Technology
  • 5+ years experience operating gas engine driven reciprocating compressors, glycol dehydration systems, and auxiliary equipment
  • Experience in developing and maintaining a spare parts inventory
  • Must be experienced in the use of PC equipment including software such as MS Office
  • Able to read and understand PFD, P&ID and mechanical drawings
  • Must be able to read, understand and adhere to HSE policies
  • Able to develop appropriate mechanical maintenance procedures using vendor O&M manuals
  • Good written/verbal technical communication skills
  • Good analytical problem solving skills
  • Willingness to perform shift work.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of the principles of the operation of internal combustion engines, gas turbines, gas processing equipment, and gas compression
  • Knowledge of Gas Pipeline Safety Rules and Regulations and OSHA Standards for General industry and Standards for the Construction Industry.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATION

  • Valid driver’s license and safe driver’s record

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lift and carry medium to heavy weight items.  Reach overhead for items, stoop, bend, and twist while working.  Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 50 pounds of force frequently.
  • Other physical activities include crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to operate a computer.
